Ever wonder where your dollars go when you give to CCC? Here’s a glimpse of the outreach, connection, and transformation you support with every gift.
Centennial Family,
By many measures, King Solomon was one of the most “successful” individuals in scripture. He was wise, rich, and accomplished many great things. Yet, he reached a point in his old age when he realized all those things were ultimately fleeting. He writes this in Ecclesiastes 5:10:
“Whoever loves money never has enough;
whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.
‘Meaningless’ he says!”
One of the lies that keeps us from being generous is the lie that says money is the only thing that will make us happy. If we have it, all of our troubles will go away. There is so much evidence, however, that that isn’t true. Solomon said it wasn’t true. Plenty of modern people have said so as well. The incredibly successful actor, Jim Carrey, once said,
“I wish everyone could become rich and famous, could get everything they every wanted, so they could realize that is not the answer.”
Money and success are not able to give us meaning. However, if we find our meaning in Christ, our identity as children of God, called by God to join him in his mission, then all our resources become a way we can express that meaning. Money will never give us meaning, but it is a powerful tool to those whose life does have meaning in living daily with Christ. May that be so with us!
