Hey Centennial,
Who is someone that made an outsized, positive impact on your life?
It may be that a teacher comes to mind. Maybe a parent, counselor, or good friend. No matter who it is, here is what I am willing to bet, they made an impact because they became closely connected. This connection can look different in various circumstances, but we almost never find ourselves impacted from people we feel distant from. Even the authors who form us do so because we connect to them through their writing. Over the past months, we have been studying Jesus’ teaching from the sermon on the mount. This Sunday, he shows us what it looks like when that teaching is put into practice.
Jesus embodies his teaching from the sermon.
And when Jesus embodies that teaching, it has a profound impact on everyone he comes in contact with.
As members of Centennial Covenant, Jesus wants us – his Church – to have the same impact on others. As you get ready to gather as a community in worship together this Sunday, consider this question:
Who might God be calling me to connect with and impact in the same way others have impacted me.
If someone comes to mind, make sure to pray for them. Pray also that God might show you how you could take a step towards them, be with them in whatever season they are in. It is when we move towards one another with the love of God that the power of God shows up.
Eager to gather with you in worship this Sunday.
Grace and peace,
Karl Helvig
