Hey Centennial,
How has God been forming you?
If I had only one question I could ever ask, I think this might be it. How has God been forming you? What is he up to? Where do you see him? If you don’t see him, what do you think is in the way? These get to the heart of living a full life in God’s kingdom. And we need these kinds of questions this week, because in the sermon we are looking at a heavy topic.
This Sunday, we will talk about suffering.
In Matthew’s gospel, we come to the crucifixion of Jesus. We live in a world filled with suffering and Christ himself suffered greatly. As is so often the case, I am sure I will not adequately address the wide and deep experiences of suffering many in our community have had. But I will try and help us look at god’s word in a way that reveals a path forward towards healing, connection, and (by the help of the Spirit) our flourishing with him, even amidst the many ways we suffer.
Would you pray with me that the Spirit would be present and at work even before our worship gathering this Sunday? I long for us to be open and attentive to his active presence.
Grace and peace,
Karl
Steve Thulson has created five video devotionals for Lent, originally for the ECC ministry, Crescendo.
We believe these devotionals would be a valuable resource for CCC as well, offering a meaningful way to prepare our hearts for Lent.
Here is the link for Week 4. We hope you enjoy it!
