Hey Centennial,

How do I follow Jesus?

At the very beginning of his ministry, Jesus gave an invitation to his twelve disciples. He said, “Follow me?” That first call of Christ is also his most enduring. At the end of his life, he commanded his followers – often called, “Disciples” – to make disciples of people from all nations. If you are a Jesus follower today, it is because of a long chain of people who heard and responded to the same call.

Yet, while the call is the same, the details of how one follows change across time.

The first disciples didn’t have smart phones or electric cars. Heck, they might have considered some of our technologies to be magic. Also, we don’t have Jesus with us physically in the way they did. What changes and what remains in the life of a disciple?

The mission statement of CCC states, “We exist to glorify God by following Jesus.”

If Centennial is your home, I ask that you make it a priority to be at worship the next three Sundays as we lay out our vision for what it means to follow Jesus in our lives today. I think you are going to find it both similar to the way the first disciples did, and also surprisingly different.

Grace and peace,
