Hey Centennial,
What does the word “Gospel” mean?
There’s a good chance that the phrase “good news” comes to your mind. Or, you might think of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the four gospels found in the New Testament. Both of those are certainly critical to an understanding of the word. But this Sunday, we’re looking at an emphasis that the author Matthew gives us in the beginning of his (gospel) account of Jesus life. Namely,
The gospel tells of when God’s voice was finally heard by his people again.
Not only did his people hear his voice again, they heard it in a new way, and God was speaking new things, things that Matthew wanted to ensure his readers gave their full attention. Which means, as we begin our study through the gospel of Matthew – looking at chapter 3 verses 1 through 12 this weekend – we need to ask ourselves,
Are we paying careful attention to the voice of God in our lives?
As we are kicking off this new series, this would be a great time to invite a friend or neighbor to “Come sit with me at church this Sunday.”
Grace and peace,
