Good afternoon, Centennial!
Are you enjoying our unseasonably warm weather? I hope so! I’m sure our snowiest months are just around the corner! And while the ground may be a little white in a week or so, would you believe that our partner North Littleton Promise is already needing a soccer coach and referees for their soccer program? In particular, the 6–7-year-olds need a coach and the program as a whole could use some referees. What a great opportunity to get some fresh air and help out the little girls learn hand-eye coordination, the thrill of playing and allow you to mentor them in the love of Jesus while you are at it! Here’s the link for volunteering:
Well, on to our other partners as well!

How about an opportunity to do some brief job interviews with a group of Master’s Apprentice students? There are 1.5 hour time slots available for interviewers to do practice interviews (15 minutes with 10 minutes for the interview and 5 for feedback) with 5 or 6 students who are in the well recognized Master’s Apprentice Pre-Apprenticeship Program. The March 10 session is beginning soon, however the interview practice dates are: Thursday, March 27, Tuesday, April 1, Thursday, April 3, and Tuesday, April 8. The available time slots for interviewers are: 8:30 am, 10:15 am, 12 noon and 2 pm. All the questions are prepared for you and there is a brief pre-interview session to get you on board with the process.
If you have previous interview experience or feel that you could be an encouragement to help the students become comfortable with interviewing, please hit the flourish@centcov.org email link here and let us know. One of the current Centennial volunteers will follow up with you and point you in the right direction.
And what is the outcome of a Master’s Apprentice 6 week program? Last Wednesday, February 19, 56 students graduated, many with new careers at great companies like MTech, Plumbline, Duro Electric and Encore Electric. These are solid $40,000+ per year positions as apprentice tradesmen. In 4 years these students will be able to sit for their journeyman’s license and if they so desire open their own company. What a great way to turn around a life. And you too can participate in this success! Below is a picture of ½ of the graduating class.

And speaking of neighbors, friends and acquaintances, do you know anyone bilingual in English/Spanish that might be interested in helping North Littleton Promise with their outreach to the parents of the children they work with? Helping these folks build up their English skills by practicing speaking is a great way to help the NLP programming. The more the parents are comfortable with English the more they volunteer within the program.

FOOD/MEALS/FOOD/MEALS/FOOD/MEALS
MEALS ARE NEEDED FOR THE PROGRAMS AT OUR PARTNERS
North Littleton Promise needs meals on Tuesdays for 20 middle/high school students and for 15 middle school students on Thursdays. There’s lots of dates in May, take a look! Let me tell you how EASY this is to do: a CCC Life Group just did this just last week: One person bought the frozen lasagnas, applesauce and brownie mix. 3 others baked the lasagna and brownies and 2 of the 4 took the meal to the NLP center at East Community Center right up Broadway. The entire group pitched in $5 per LG member to cover the cost of feeding 20 kids! THAT’S how EASY it is to serve with your life group! Give it some thought – and the best part is that when you drop off the food you can get a tour of the incredible new facilities that the City of Littleton and Littleton Public Schools have provided for NLP’s programming!

Love INC needs meals for their IMPACT Classes programming on Thursday nights. Would you believe they are up to 100 people in attendance! The good news is that they are helping so many people grow in their life skills and Christian life! The not so good news is that 100 people ARE a lot to feed. But if you take the NLP example above and multiply it by 5 and divide it between 2 or 3 Life Groups or Men’s Groups, or Crescendo group, or Young Adult group, YOU’VE Got It! Give it some thought, pick up the phone or bring it up at your next meeting. It’s not as difficult as you may think and there are lots of dates available in May!
