Centennial,

We have a lot of “Thank You’s” to send out this month!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Flourish Chili Supper on March 3rd, as well as our wonderful cooks who provided the various flavors of chili, corn bread and salads!  We appreciated all of you! Also, thank you for your rapt attention to our ministry partners discussing their work, their clients, and their needs!  Wasn’t it a wonderful experience?  We had approximately 100 attendees in community at the dinner!

Our 2nd big thank you comes to those of you who contributed to our last-minute Severe Weather Shelter Network (SWSN) Drive. Here’s a big thank you from Rosie Hughes who collected and delivered the items for Centennial!

Many thanks to all of you for giving supplies to SWSN. The donation boxes in the foyer were overflowing because of your generosity during the month of March. Here is a partial list of what was collected:

-6 rolls of paper towels               -30 rolls of Toilet Paper

-1 large tarp                                -6 containers of disinfecting wipes

-100+paper cups                         -11 sweatpants

-4 pairs of winter socks               -1 pkg of diapers

-4 pkgs of hand warmers            -Numerous snack bars, coffee, tea

-10 pairs of winter gloves           -Bags full of travel size toiletries

Thank you again for your generous support for this outreach for those who are in desperate need. SWSN provides emergency overnight shelter on life-threatening winter nights for single individuals living on the streets in West Arapahoe and Jefferson counties. Guests are provided a hot supper, a bed on severe weather nights, and a breakfast the following morning. SWSN operates from October through April each year.

North Littleton Promise has an enormous need for a very special person.  And Maureen Shannon, the executive director of this incredible program, believes that YOU may hold the key to helping identify that person.  Due to a retirement, NLP is going to have some big shoes to fill, their long time Program Director is retiring and needs to be replaced.  This is one of the key roles in the organization, interacting on a daily basis with virtually every child that comes through the North Littleton Promise program.  Here’s the information.

Director of Elementary, Middle School and Soccer Programs

This full-time team member develops and leads our after school and summer programming for elementary, middle school students and spring/fall soccer programs to facilitate growth in faith, education and leadership.  This person builds strong relationships with students and parents, as well as leads volunteers and summer staff. This position requires experience in teaching/ministry, programing experience and volunteer supervision.

Do you know someone who might be qualified?  Please encourage them to apply!

In addition to praying that the God’s right person is found soon, you can also consider helping NLP by providing snacks and meals to the elementary, middle and high school programs. There are only a few times left the rest of spring that need to be filled:

  • Elementary snacks on May 16th for 15 students.
  • Middle and High School snacks also for 15 students on 4/23, 4/30, 5/8 and 5/15.

Would you be able to take in snacks either on your own or with some friends or your life group?

Finally, could you be praying for 2 refrigerators and a 15-person van to be donated or come available at a very reasonable price for North Littleton Promise?

The Master’s Apprentice (MAP) Our ministry partner, The Master’s Apprentice just received an enormous blessing!  The Lowe’s Company, aka Lowe’s Hardware and Home Improvement has just awarded 10 nonprofit organizations nationwide, generous grants to assist with expanding programming.  The Master’s Apprentice Program (MAP) was one of the 10 recipients!  The money will be used to expand this faith-based program to more classes for qualified students to become apprentices in the construction industry.  Currently our commitment to the program consists of 4 Centennial members contributing significant amounts of time to help coach the 140 students per year.  MAP would like to increase availability of classes to 200 students per year.

Are you interested in coaching with the program?  What’s needed?  Woodworking coaches, Math coaches, Financial Literacy coaches, Work Attitudes coaches and Career Prep coaches.  While construction company experience is not needed, a comfort in one of these 5 areas would be.

Have a look at this recently released YouTube video on 3 recent (Feb, ’24) graduates and give some thought to volunteering. Or you can talk to Pete Gammie, Amy Hughes, Robin Hurley or Ron Mol about what coaching is all about.

Do you know someone like these students who could benefit from the Master’s Apprentice Program?  Recruiting is happening right now for Session 3 beginning May 6th.  Jude@themastersapprentice.org is the student recruiter to speak with.

IMPACT CLASSES BEGIN THURSDAY, APRIL 25TH!

You can make a difference in your life and the lives of others around you in two ways:

Consider signing up for an Impact class for yourself or ask a friend who might need a little encouragement to attend. The classes offered this trimester are:

HOW WE LOVE: What if you discovered your relationship problems (marriage, family, and friends) began before you met the significant others in your current life? Be freed to move toward compassion and forgiveness by exploring the roots of how we relate to and express love for ourselves and others.

LIFESTYLES: The whole-person care approach is designed to help you put your health – and life – back into your own hands. It’s not just about healing what’s wrong, it’s about celebrating what’s right. And it will help you create a life of better health, more joy, less stress, and a trusting relationship with God.

FORGIVENESS: Are you struggling with guilt and shame, unable to forgive yourself? Or angry and bitter, unable to forgive others?  Let’s take a fresh look at what the Bible has to say about how Christ died to set us free so we can say goodbye to the bondage of our emotions and embrace the truths that bring freedom.

SAFE PEOPLE:  Is your “people picker” broken and in need of repair? God made us for connection! Let’s explore what healthy character traits look like, how to meet our mutual needs for affection, affirmation, and acknowledgement, and the specific Biblical qualities that make us safe for each other.

Impact classes are free with dinner and childcare provided.  Click here for more information on the Impact program: https://loveinclittleton.org/impact/

OR,

Sign up, prepare and serve a meal for the Impact Class on a Thursday night.  Here’s the sign-up form that lists the available time slots.  You and your life group or friends would be so appreciated for your kindness to these students who are working at making a difference in their lives.
