Meet and Greet Jim and Hydi Peterson

January 7 following service

Jim and Hydi Peterson have been missionaries in Japan for over 30 years! Jim will be preaching, and afterward a reception/luncheon is planned to get to know this couple better! If you aren’t familiar with their ministries, ask them:

  • How do the mountains in Japan compare to the Rockies?
  • What’s it like running a Christian camp?
  • What is the state of Christianity in Japan?
  • What are the greatest needs of Japanese pastors?
  • How do national tennis tournaments and mountain climbing lead to evangelism?
  • What lessons did you learn from your missionary parents and grandparents?
  • Where is “home?!”

RSVPs for the (free) luncheon are very much appreciated by sending an email to: GlobalTeamsend@centcov.org.

A free-will offering box for the Petersons will be available for your donations.

Jon Hardin Speaking

January 14

On January 14, Jon Hardin will be preaching from one of the Bible’s most interesting missionary stories — the book of Jonah. We’ll be discovering the way God has designed His mission to the world. As many of you know, Jon serves with Frontiers, an international ministry focused on bringing the Gospel to the Muslim world.

This same Sunday we’ll be highlighting the many ways we can get involved in God’s mission. We can’t all be GO-ERS, it’s just as necessary to have SENDERS, MOBILIZERS, AND PRAY-ERS at home, behind each missionary! And what about opportunities to be WELCOMERS, as we interact more and more immigrants, refugees, and international students to our towns?  And it all starts with being LEARNERS, so we welcome Jon’s instruction and encouragement from the pulpit!

There will be a table in the lobby to learn more about the work of Global Missions at Centennial, and keep your eyes peeled for the new display in the lobby as well!

LoveJustice International with Amberle Mangis

January 21

“LJI works in over two dozen countries, training and placing monitors at strategic transit points (bus terminals, train stations) to identify and stop trafficking as it is occurring, BEFORE people are exploited. To date, we’ve intercepted over 50,000 individuals to prevent them from being trafficked. We’re able to collect immensely valuable data on traffickers and their networks, and we’ve helped authorities arrest over 1,400 suspects in connection with our anti-trafficking work. Love Justice was established with the opening of family homes in some of the poorest parts of the world, caring for orphaned and abandoned children. We also operate a school in South Asia, empowering students to become difference makers in the world through excellent education.”

Amberle Mangis will share about the work of LJI and will be available after the service to answer more questions and tell you how you can be involved in saving people from slavery!
