Cross-Cultural Learnings
Video shown in worship on July 28, 2024
Global Missions: March 13, 2024
An evening open to all the CCC family to learn more about our
Global Outreach program in an informal, entertaining way.
-
Pastor Karl Helvig will bring greetings and discuss why Centennial needs global outreach.
- Jon Hardin will address the question, “Are American missionaries still needed in the 21st century?”
- Valerie Weyand will share information from Serve Globally, the mission’s arm of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
- Jessica Hintz will lead an exercise in “Prayer—rebelling against the status quo.”
- We’ll discuss a theoretical case study about how to allocate global outreach funds.
-
We’ll do a cross-cultural exercise to see what culture you’ll feel most at home in.
All this and a spaghetti dinner too! RSVPs needed; please express any dietary needs.

Words of Hope has a simple goal—get the word of God into the homes and hands of the world’s least evangelized people. WOH uses a variety of media to reach countries closed to missionaries and offers follow-up for those who want more information, study materials, and in-person discipleship training.
Centennial Covenant Church has been involved with WOH’s Persian ministries, and several of our church family have participated in week-long conferences attended by believers from underground churches.

On April 7, Words of Hope President Jon Opgenorth will be preaching, and accompanying him will be a Brother sharing how he found Christ in a hostile country. This Brother (who for security reasons cannot be identified in print) will tell more of his journey at a catered lunch after church. Their combined stories offer insight into the reality of following Christ under persecution and offer HOPE of how we at Centennial can be involved and pray for people like our Brother.
RSVPs are REQUIRED IN ADVANCE for lunch April 7.
RSVP to GlobalTeamSend@centcov.org
We request $5 per adult for this lunch, if possible. No charge for children.

Ramadan is the Islamic month of fasting and prayer.
Throughout the Muslim world, followers of Islam will fast from sunrise until sundown, praying and seeking God. During this time of spiritual seeking, many Christians pray that the living God will show Muslims that He can be found in the Person of Jesus Christ.
In 2024, Ramadan is from March 10 through April 9. Frontiers is offering a daily email throughout the feast to guide Christians in praying for Christ to reveal himself to Muslims. Each day offers a story, a Bible verse to focus on, and three prayer points.

GETTING INVOLVED
We believe that there are 6 primary ways to get involved in Global Mission.
Nobody is designed for all, but all of us are designed for at least one.
Learn
There are a lot of resources to help us learn more. Try reaching out to the missionaries we support to learn more about them and contact our Global Team for more resources.
Pray
Prayer and Intercession is one of the most vital ways we can participate in God’s Global Mission. Try “adopting” one of our missionaries and commit to praying for them regularly.
Welcome
With the ease of International travel and communication, we have seen an increase in internationals visiting our country. This is a great opportunity to engage and create life-giving relationships with them. Try visiting an ethnic restaurant that you haven’t been to and get to know the staff or volunteer to host students from other countries.
Send
Giving of our resources is a very effective way of supporting ongoing missions across the world. Try supporting a missionary financially on a monthly basis or being a source of encouragement and support for them.
Mobilize
Advocating for our missionaries and encouraging others to get involved. Try getting involved in CCC’s Global Team.
Go
“Go” is the most traditional understanding of involvement in Global Mission. Try going on a short-term or mid term trip with CCC.
