Hey Centennial,
During the sermon a few weeks ago, I made this statement about Centennial Covenant.
We are a formation focused church.
Here is a major critique of this ministry focus. “Isn’t that making faith ‘all about me’ and neglecting the mandate to serve our world?” That is such an important question. Here is my short answer.
No. Why not?
Because all true spiritual formation sends us out in service to others.
It is not possible to be truly formed by the Spirit without increasing your committed service to others. True formation always leads to greater – and more genuinely joyful – service to neighbor and world.
This is why Jesus said the greatest commandment (singular) is “Love God and love neighbor” (plural)!
Therefore, here is the question I would love every one of us to answer on a regular basis.
How am I intentionally seeking God’s leading, God’s forming, and God’s direction for every part of my life?
During worship this Sunday we will consider just how critical of a question that is. It may be the most important question any of us could ever ask. We will look at a rapid-fire series of stories in Matthew chapter 26, the identify the myriad ways people respond to the call of Christ and the way of his Kingdom.
How will we respond?
I am eager to worship as a community this Sunday.
Grace and peace,
Karl

Steve Thulson has created five video devotionals for Lent, originally for the ECC ministry, Crescendo.
We believe these devotionals would be a valuable resource for CCC as well, offering a meaningful way to prepare our hearts for Lent.
Here is the link for Week 2. We hope you enjoy it!
