Hey Centennial,

When was the last time you felt cornered?

Maybe not in a literal physical sense, but in an emotional or spiritual sense. You might have heard yourself saying things like, “It feels like everyone is out to get me,” or “The world seems to have something against me today.” If you can call a memory like that to mind, here’s my second question:

What do you tend to do when you’re in those high-pressure situations?

Three of the most common—and, frankly, hard-wired into our brains—responses are: Fight, Flight, or Freeze. Would you say one of them is your default?

This Sunday is Week 3 of our sermon series, Shift: Moving Prayer to the Center, and we’re exploring a third aspect of prayer:

Prayer is Courage.

When we understand the power of God that we access through prayer, and the new perspective prayer gives us on the world, we become the kind of people who can stand firm in the face of trouble.

Prayer turns us into people of courage.

If you’re facing any battles that feel too hard to win, this is a Sunday to be sure and gather with the Centennial family. Feel free to read chapter 6 of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians ahead of time if you want to let God’s word soak into your heart before we worship, pray, and open Scripture together. And maybe even consider inviting a friend to “Come sit with me” if you know someone who could use encouragement in a hard season.

Eager to worship with you this Sunday.

Grace and peace,

Karl
