Ever wonder where your dollars go when you give to CCC? Here’s a glimpse of the outreach, connection, and transformation you support with every gift.
Centennial Family,
You have probably noticed over the past year (or, if you haven’t noticed, it’s good for me to mention it again here!) that we talk a lot about discipleship. Jesus’ final instruction to his disciples was simple: “Make disciples!” This imperative is often referred to as “The Great Commission.” You can read the whole passage at the end of Matthew’s gospel, chapter 28.
People have defined discipleship in many different ways. To some, it conjures images of memorizing Bible verses and studying theological concepts. To others, it means learning spiritual gifts and finding a place to serve in a local church. These definitions—and the many others you may find—all serve important purposes. Around CCC, we think of discipleship a little differently. Or, at least, we are trying to shift the meaning of discipleship from how many people tell us it has been defined for them.
Discipleship is organizing every part of your life to align with the way of Jesus.
One way we have tried to foster this idea is with a simple set of four questions. These four questions prompt reflection on the various realms of life we live each day. Here they are:
• How is God calling me to grow?
• Where is God calling me to go?
• What is God calling me to do?
• Who is God calling me to share this journey with?
To be a disciple means thinking about your emotional, intellectual, physical, relational, and vocational life. It means seeking to align your attitudes, actions, checkbook, and calendar with the way of Jesus. It means finding your heart more and more concerned with one thing: the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Here’s my question to you:
Are you living a life of discipleship?
I write this in the Financial Corner because every dollar contributed to the General Fund of CCC supports this central and unwavering commitment. The call to make disciples is at the heart of our mission statement, which says, “We exist to glorify God by following Jesus on a shared journey of transformation in His mission to our broken world.” That shared journey of transformation is the journey of discipleship.
When you support CCC, you support the work of following the Great Commission in the way of the great commandments: love for God and neighbor.
If you aren’t regularly contributing (weekly or monthly is most common) a percentage of your income (meaning the actual dollar amount may go up or down year after year), I would love for you to consider setting up auto-pay or ACH withdrawals this week. You can set up auto-pay here or contact the office about setting up ACH withdrawals (info@centcov.org, 303-797-2344).
Participation is the most powerful way to support CCC’s disciple-making mission.
As always, it is a joy to be part of a community of Jesus followers. I am glad we are in this body together.
Grace and peace,
Karl Helvig
