Ever wonder where your dollars go when you give to CCC? Here’s a glimpse of the outreach, connection, and transformation you support with every gift.

Centennial Family,

I came across a chart the other day, that at first caused me to chuckle, then chuckle, a little uncomfortably, and finally pause to think.

It’s called the US misery Index.

Do we really need this index!?!

It takes a few factors like unemployment and inflation and combines them to form a single number that measures the “misery” in America. It hit an all-time high during Covid at about 20. Right now, it’s in the mid 6% range.

Here’s what it really made me think about though. Things like inflation, and unemployment, obviously have a real and often pain inducing impact on our lives. However, as people of God’s kingdom, who don’t worship at the alters of the kingdom of this world, while the factors of life matter, they don’t matter in the ultimate way.

I’m more interested in our joy index

And the truth of scripture is that Joy is determine the less by our circumstances, and more by our perspective.

One of the best ways to cultivate and maintain a kingdom perspective, a joy, producing perspective, is the regular practice of generosity.

Generosity reminds us that the worldly chase for “enough” never actually gets us to enough. It reminds us that the greatest joy comes when we seek not our own interests, but the interest of others. Route us in the fact that we worship God, who gave his life for us, to invite us to give our lives to others. Greater love knows no, and then, this, to lay down your life for a friend.

As you consider your financial contributions to Centennial Covenant, I pray you do so, in a manner rooted in a kingdom of God perspective that brings you true and lasting joy

Grace and peace,

Karl
