Hey Centennial,

I was driving home from Fort Collins last weekend after visiting some friends. We were driving over dinnertime, so we plugged the location of a restaurant into our GPS. I was following the direction while also carrying on a conversation with my wife. I was unfamiliar with the roads I was driving on and, when it came time to make my exit, it was a strangely confusing intersection. Not surprisingly, I missed the exit and found myself driving on the wrong road, heading away from the restaurant.

Have you ever found yourself on the wrong road, heading the wrong direction in life?

Fortunately, the GPS automatically re-routed me and I paid even closer attention to make sure I made the correct turns and eventually arrived at our destination.

But what would have happened if I had just kept driving? It’s obvious. I never would have made it to my destination. I could have driven all day long and that road would not have taken me to the place I was going.

Turns out, that is exactly what the Israelites are doing as we continue reading the story found in the book of Judges. It’s like God has automatically re-routed their GPS repeatedly, and instead, they keep ignoring it and going their own way. So, this Sunday, we are going to find out:

What happens when we ignore God and keep going our own way?

Grace and peace,
