Ever wonder where your dollars go when you give to CCC? Here’s a glimpse of the outreach, connection, and transformation you support with every gift.

I talked last Sunday about the way we all have “not Enough“ stories we tell ourselves. The stories have one thing in common: they evaluate life and circumstance based on what we believe possible. Our “Not Enough” stories always fail to see the world from the perspective of the God’s Kingdom. The final exhortation we heard from Jesus in Matthew 15 was this:

Jesus doesn’t need us to have enough in order for him to be enough.

Turns out, we tell ourselves “Not Enough” stories about our financial resources as well.
Don’t get me wrong. Some of us have a lot more and some of us have a lot less and that is a reality that must acknowledged. However, what Jesus asked of his disciples had nothing to do with how much they had, it had everything to do with the blessing he wanted to give. Here is the question Jesus asks of us,

Are you willing to take what you have and, with my blessing, distribute it as I instruct?

To get more practical, I could phrase it this way:

Are you distributing your finances the way you hear Christ instructing you?
I can tell you one thing that is certain. You are likely not distributing as Jesus instructs if you’re never pausing to ask yourself how Jesus instructs. What is his example in the gospels? What are the instructions of scripture? What does generous, sacrificial giving look like? How do kindness and compassion guide what we do with what God has given?
I can’t tell you what God’s answer is for you. However, God can tell you. So, here’s my hope: may all of us remember that all we have has been given by Jesus. May all of us take what we have and give it to Jesus for his use, regardless of whether we think it’s enough. May we then receive it back from him and distribute it as he instructs.

May we continue to steward all our resources for the sake of Christ and his Kingdom.

Grace and peace,
Karl Helvig
