Hey Centennial,
Do you know how many times a day the average American touches their smart phone? According to some studies, it is as much as
TWO THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED TIMES A DAY.
We interact with these devices so often that we know where the apps are on our screen without even looking at them, can pound out text messages at 60 words a minute without even thinking about it, and there’s even a newly documented phenomenon you’ve probably experienced, “Phantom Vibration Syndrome.” This is where we think we feel our phone buzzing but, upon checking, find there are no new notifications for us. Well, let me ask you this:
What if you checked in with God as often as you checked your phone every day?
How much of a difference would that make with your heart and mindset? What impact would that have on the state of your soul? On your anxiety levels? On your self-talk?
This Sunday, we continue our study through the book of Judges, and we are going to hear the story of Gideon. Here is the title of the sermon,
Inattentive or attentively listening?
As we continue to learn from Judges how to stay faithful in the messy middle of life, I hope we are together becoming more and more familiar with the sound of God’s voice speaking into our lives.
Grace and peace,
