Hey Centennial,

What if I’m already so stressed, I simply don’t have the energy to think about growth?

We have been talking the past two Sundays about God’s desire for our growth and the details of how we follow Jesus.

I get it. Our culture pushes down the gas pedal until our tank is way past empty. Jim Wilder, in his book, The Other Half of Church, observes that, if we don’t remember to stop and replenish our reserves through joy filled community, authentic connection, and true engagement with God,

Eventually your body will shut down for lack of energy. We drain our tanks and run on empty.”

When we run on empty, we can kid ourselves for a while, but we never travel that far.

If you have found yourself thinking anything along these lines over the past couple weeks, then be sure to be here this weekend.

The final, and most critical, element of discipleship is this:

Rest.

We need to learn that as much as God calls us to get intentional in going the direction he calls to grow, we must never forget that he is the power source and the fuel for it all.

Rest is how we learn to let God’s power be sufficient for all our needs.

Grace and Peace,

P.S. Interested in helping someone get to church? We have an individual who lives just down the street from church and is looking for a ride to church on Sunday mornings. If you are willing to help give a ride, reach out to Stefany Bergstrom at Sbergstrom@centcov.org.
