Centennial Family,

Worship will begin outside on the front lawn this Sunday as we are celebrating two baptisms!

Also, during worship, we will revisit the ways we have sensed Gods leading in our lives. We’ve invited you the past couple weeks to write these promptings down in your journal. Therefore,

I’m asking you again (I know, I know, I’m repeating myself), please bring a journal to worship this Sunday. *smile*

We still have plenty more journals that we are happy to give you if you need one. Why the emphasis on journaling? We are trying to encourage everyone to practice discernment. My dream is that 100% of people who call Centennial home would regularly create space to listen for the voice of God, pay close attention to his leading, then put to practice whatever he says. That we would all go where God leads and grow as God calls. I believe that journaling – and regularly revisiting whatever you journaled, even if it is just one word or phrase each week – is a powerful practice to cultivate discernment.

So, please bring your journal this Sunday. 😊

That said, there is a lot going on at CCC and we would love for everyone to be all in.

  • This Sunday we will be celebrating Debbie Wolf, as she is retiring from 33 years of ministry in CCC His Kids and at the end of the worship service.
  • And we will have members of our Prayer Team available to pray with you at the end of the service.
  • New adult classes begin Sunday, October 6th and It is very helpful if you register for classes so we can prepare for you! Please, sign up HERE today!
  • We have two new life groups launching this fall! If you are interested in being part of a community group, please reach out to Stefany Bergstrom, sbergstrom@centcov.org ASAP!
  • Save the date for our next Congregational Meeting, Sunday September 29th. We will hear a financial update and vote on a proposed budget for the 2024-2025 Fiscal Year (Am I supposed to capitalize “Fiscal Year”? I’m not sure.).

Whew! God is on the move in lives and communities. I am glad you are part of his work!

This Sunday, we begin looking at the third of five sermons from Jesus as presented in Matthew’s gospel. Chapter 13 gives us his sermon of Kingdom Parables. The first one is the parable of Four Soils.

I’m eager to worship with you Sunday and continue our shared journey of transformation.

Grace and peace,

Karl Helvig

P.S. It is Third Sunday Prayer this weekend. Stay after to pray with a member of our prayer team. They would love to pray with you about anything going on in your life.
